Heritage pledges $1 million to support Trump’s Cabinet picks

Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts called dismantling the “deep state” a key mandate for Donald Trump, framing it as essential to restoring power to the American people. He urged conservatives to rally behind Trump’s Cabinet nominees, though some of the president-elect’s unconventional picks, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for health secretary and Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence, face challenges in Senate confirmation.

The Heritage Foundation faced criticism during the campaign for its Project 2025 policy manifesto, which Democrats used in attack ads. Although Trump distanced himself from the project, he has since appointed contributors, such as Tom Homan and Brendan Carr, to key roles in his administration. Heritage has launched a campaign to educate the public on presidential authority over Cabinet appointments and is targeting senators whose votes could be decisive.

The think tank also criticized Senate tactics that obstruct appointments, advocating for a swift confirmation process to advance Trump’s “America First” agenda. Despite lingering Democratic criticism over Project 2025, Heritage aims to align its efforts with Trump’s transition and secure confirmations for his nominees.
