Trump Regains Lead in Michigan Polling Ahead of 2024 Election

For the first time since late July 2024, former President Donald Trump has regained the lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the RealClearPolitics (RCP) polling average for Michigan, a crucial battleground state in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

According to the latest RCP average, which compiles data from various pollsters between September 19 and October 7, Trump holds a narrow 0.5-point advantage over Harris, with 48.5% support to Harris’s 48.0%. This marks a significant shift in momentum in Michigan, where Trump had previously trailed Harris for over two months.

Key polls contributing to this lead include:

Quinnipiac: Trump leads Harris 51-47, a +4 advantage.

MIRS/MNS: Trump narrowly leads 49-48, a +1 advantage.

Trafalgar: Trump holds a +2 lead, 47-45.

NYT/Siena: Harris holds a +1 advantage, 48-47.

The state of Michigan has been a critical battleground in recent elections, with President Joe Biden carrying the state by +6.7 points in 2020 and Hillary Clinton by +7.3 points in 2016. However, Trump’s recent surge suggests a competitive race as both campaigns vie for key electoral votes.

As the election approaches, Michigan will remain a closely watched state, with both parties investing significant resources to secure its 16 electoral votes. The race in Michigan reflects broader national trends as Trump continues to maintain strong support across several battleground states, making the 2024 election highly competitive.
