Mississippi on Thursday became the first state this year to enact a ban on transgender athletes competing on girls’ or women’s sports teams, as Governor Tate Reeves signed the bill into law.
Gov. Reeves of Mississippi has signed the bill intended to target trans girls in sports. It will open the door to discrimination against all athletes in women’s and girls’ sports. His glee in signing the bill while Jackson is without water is the exact perversity of this moment.

BREAKING: Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has just signed SB 2536, a bill that will exclude trans women and girls from playing sports.
This is the first piece of anti-LGBTQ legislation to be signed into law across the country in 2021.
Trans kids deserve better.
