Democrat Christy Smith, a state assemblywoman, conceded defeat to Republican Mike Garcia Wednesday afternoon, one day after the closely watched special election runoff for the seat vacated by former Rep. Katie Hill (D-Calif.), who resigned last year.
Mike Garcia is an American businessman and candidate for California’s 25th congressional district special election. Garcia previously worked as a defense contractor for Raytheon Technologies and served as an officer in the United States Navy.
